May 16, 2017 My Personal Blog

I am very excited to become a new member to the team.  I am very thankful for the opportunity that State Employees Credit Union Public Fellows Internship program and PRISC have given me.  I just recently finished my fourth year of college and will be spending the summer with PRISC as a intern.  The team has given me the the role of Community Engagement and  Research Associate.  My duties will include many aspects pertaining to community outreach.  I hope I will be able to utilize my skills to help with managing social media accounts, blogging, as well as interacting with local businesses.  I have become very interested in the projects at PRISC, including that of Rose Haven, which I will be able to help with during my time here.  I hope I will be able to lend a hand when it comes to helping PRISC reach out to the community and build support for this project.

I am currently enrolled at East Carolina University and I am pursuing a degree in Applied Sociology with an expected graduation date in the spring of 2018.  My courses have been developing my writing and research skills and hopefully that will be useful to help PRISC during the course of my three month internship with them.  With so much work coming up on the Rose Haven project, I know that I will have a lot of work that I need to put in and I am ready to get started.  Throughout my time here, I know I will learn some useful knowledge about not only research, but also how nonprofit organizations work.   It is going to be an interesting and challenging summer.
